Excellent Balls
Callaway Hex Black Tour golf balls are excellent balls. They inspired a bit more confidence in my game, slightly more distance in drives and extra spin in the short game.
No golf ball alone will make you Phil Mikelson in your short game or make every drive over 300 yards dead straight. Compared to my usual golf ball, Srixon Q Star (Srixon Q Star 1-Dozen Golf Balls), drives carried about 8 yards longer, and hit the fairway more frequently. The really big difference was approaching the green; these balls stopped a lot quicker. Of course, like anything with golf, your mileage will vary.
For the average weekend golfer, this ball is probably overkill; the difference between this ball and about any other ball will probably not be noticeable.

Good high end ball
The Callaway Hex Black Tour Golf Ball is a nice premium ball for the better player. It has a nice feel close to the hole, and has good distance off the tee. At $45 a dozen, these balls are definitely meant for better players. If you're a high handicapper, save your money and look elsewhere. These balls won't perform miracles. Callaway says its hexagonal pattern makes the ball more aerodynamic and more stable in windy conditions. I don't notice any difference from conventional dimples. If you're looking for a premium golf ball, the Callaway Hex Black Tour is worth considering.
An above average golf ball
Overall I am pleased with the Callaway Hex Black Tour Golf Ball. I would classify my self as an occasional golfer. I don't hit monster 300 yard drives and have a natural slight fade. I do tend to be accurate with my irons but again not for a ton of distance. So take this review for what it is, someone who enjoys the game but doesn't work at it.
Off the tee I would say the ball adds maybe about 20 yards to my drive. If I really concentrated I am able to flatten out the fade with it but for the most part the fade is still there. Iron play seemed about the same distance as with other balls. The accuracy I expect from my irons was still there so not much if any improvement.
Overall I would rate the ball above average considering the extra length in distance off the tee. Since my drives are probably below average in length I have no problem purchasing the ball. Believe me; I'll take any extra distance I can find.
