Pretty Good! I was surprised
I read some reviews on the other ball retrievers for chipping and it was clear to stay away from the plastic stuff so I did. When I got the item, I thought that I would have to return it and get the shag bag instead because it really didn't look like it was going to work very well. I was very surprised when I took it out for the first time with about 15 golf balls and I must admit that it worked much better than I thought it would. I didn't have to bend over once. It saved my back and it's made of aluminum so it's solid. Best part of all is that it slid perfectly in my golf bag right next to my putter. One complaint is that if you turn the tube over with the balls in it, they will all come tumbling out regardless of the "cap" on it. The cap doesn't prevent the balls from falling out but as long as you keep your hand on it, it works pretty good.

Nothing to write home about - some design problems
Amazon's review system reminded me that I purchased this product almost a year ago. Most of that time I've had this tube in my trunk so I can readily practice chipping and putting at a nearby golf course. This tube functions as storage for approx 22-23 golf balls and nothing more. My beefs with this product are:

Cap closure: Describing it as lousy would be an understatement. The cap constantly unhinges leaving 22-23 golf balls to roll around in the trunk. Worse yet, the cap often pops open when taking it the tube out of the trunk causing 22-23 golf balls to scatter to the four winds in the parking lot. Cannot count the number of embarrassing times this has occurred, but it's at least a half-dozen. Long and short is you consciously have to focus on keeping the tube vertical and cap up - at all times. It also means that it's difficult to carry anything else but this tube with one hand.

The pickup mechanism is a headache. It's too stiff for fragile greens,...
Doesn't picks up ball cleanly
I guess, there isn't lot of science and moving pieces involved in ball picker. Proactive fell short in putting one piece that is important - You can't pick up the balls after having 10 balls in your tube without using lot of effort. Very basic design flaw, I wouldn't suggest anybody buying this tube.

Perfect for what it is
Durable, they work, and you even get a little bit of feel in the club. Not exactly like hitting a golf ball, but they are great for back yard practice.

As advertized, but they don't feel like golf balls
These are fine: the light weight means they don't travel far and it would be hard for them to cause damage even if you hit someone with one. And since they are so light, they exaggerate any spin you might put on the ball by hooking or slicing dramatically.

But they don't feel like golf balls: too light, not even a satisfying "thwok" when you make a good hit. If you hit just a few repeatedly, they get deformed from perfect spheres, but spring back by the next day. So, use all of 'em during a practice session so you don't keep hitting the same few over and over.

But all in all, they are cheap, and a good practice / training device.
Exactly what I expected
I'll eventually use these to practice my swing in the front yard, but I bought them as cheap ammo for a Nerf Ballistic Ball Blaster. The official Nerf refill packs get you something like 5 balls for $12. With only a slight, non-permanent modification to my blaster, these smaller foam golf balls worked perfectly. These are a dense, non-porous foam. But they lose their steam quickly, so they will not break windows or leave welts, or even hurt for that matter.

Sturdy but heavy
I've been carrying pocket size ball retriever with me on my golf rounds for a long time. I've tried several different models. They all seem to brake sooner or later at the cheesy extensions.
The Callaway model seems very sturdy and hopefully will last longer.
Unfortunately, it is heavier compared to other pocket size retrievers.
I like the well designed ball grabbing mechanism as well.
I only give it four stars because of the weight. I carry my bag and walk 100% of my rounds. Every ounce counts!

Great retriever!
I bought this because it was on sale but had never used a retriever of this type before and didn't know exactly what to expect. I'm very pleasantly surprised - all you have to do is tap a ball and it gets captured in the "trap." My only complaint is that it's a little short, but I suppose I could have bought a longer one for a little more dough so no fault to Callaway or Amazon there. Great product!
Husband loved the golf ball retriever

Very good purchase
I received 34 great pro V1's and 2 not so good ones, but they're playable. The seller even threw in 2 additional golf balls and a sleeve of another brand. I'm very happy with this purchase. My only knock was that the golf balls didn't come in the package that is shown in the picture. The balls were in a plastic grocery bag, which might be why the seller threw in a few extras. It's a minor detail, but it's hard to wrap a plastic bag of golf balls to give to someone as a gift.

Close to what was advertised and good enough...
There were a couple in the box that were a bit less than AAA rating (faint brown scuffing and some felt a bit spongy), but the remainder were near-new, like they were lost halfway through their first. Almost all of them had corporate/event logos, and one was a range ball, but most appear to be in AAA condition, as advertised. My favorite was monogrammed: "NO, ITS NOT YOURS. WALK AWAY." The balls came rolling around in a cardboard box with no container or protective packaging of any kind. This still beats paying $1.90 per ball for new Top Flite or similar garbage.

All the Pro VI balls were very playable. Many had logos, but there were no practice balls and no scuffs.

XV ball
I have finally found a ball I can play with; I hit more fairways then ever and when I miss it's just off the fairway. I consistently drive between 285 and 315 yards. My personal best is 334 tracked with a gps. I love the color of the ball; it's very easy to pick up and find. Around the green my game has drastically improved; a comment from one of my playing partner's note how they love how my ball stops on a dime when getting up and down on the green. This is now my ball of choice. One side note, I play in Hawaii where the wind is very strong. This ball performs very well. On low shot into the wind the ball released with very good roll.

Srixon balls glow
I recently purchased the Srixon Z-star XV Tour yellow golf balls to see what all the buzz was about. My product arrived in a timely manner, as have all my purchases from Amazon. I am a 10 handicap, I only play once a week, I have played mostly Pro V1 and Pro V1x in the past. I have played Taylormade, Bridgestone and Calloways. The Srixon was close to all of these other balls as far as length of the tee. What impressed me most was around the greens, great feel, nice bite. I have played many shots from 100 yds and in with the one hop, stop bite. Getting a bit older, I did like the yellow color, easy to track and to find. I am not going as far as to say this is my new favorite ball, but performs well.

Amazon purchase
Ball is satisfactory, butterfly logo nice. Although these are crystals, they do not appear to be Volvik as advertised. I have used Volvik crystals in the past, but can find nowhere on this ball or box that says Volvik. Should not be listed as such if they are not. However, still gave 5 stars.

Works on my "girl" hand
Warning--it says "left handed" but it means for the "left hand." I bought it for my left-handed son, so it didn't work. I kept it for me.

I have a large hand for a woman, so the medium fit well. The finger length was perfect. Best of all, the leather is soft and feels great on my hand. I don't sweat at all in this.

The price is the best I've found for this caliber glove.

Note: Just be careful about choosing Hand Orientation. If you are right handed and you need the left hand glove, pick the hand orientation as "Left Handed" and vice versa.
